The therapist listens, explains and advises. It tries to determine the causes of the imbalance without focusing on the effects. He establishes a balance sheet and directs the person to a healthy diet, gives advice on healthy living, breathing exercises and movements adapted. He practices acupuncture and Chinese massage on specific points. He no longer considers the body as a machine itself but practice Qi Gong (gentle exercise, meditation and breathing techniques) in all conscience, to harmonize body and mind and circulate energy. A good practitioner is someone who knows and understands all of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Taoist philosophy, the basic foundations, traditional acupuncture, dietetics, psychology and Qi Gong).
